About this opportunity:

We are looking for a Greenhouse Technician to perform a variety of greenhouse and field tasks in supporting our greenhouse and field operations. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in plant biology, hands-on greenhouse experience, and familiarity with plant crossing techniques. We are looking for someone who is independent, proactive, and results-driven, ready to take ownership of daily greenhouse and field tasks and contribute to our mission of advancing plant research and breeding.

What we’re looking for:

  • Conduct daily greenhouse tasks, including planting, watering, fertilizing, and monitoring plant health.
  • Perform plant crossing and pollination, or be willing to learn plant breeding techniques.
  • Maintain greenhouse equipment, ensure environmental conditions are optimal, and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Collect, record, and analyze plant data for research and breeding programs.
  • Assist with organizing and executing greenhouse experiments.
  • Occasionally travel to field sites to support plant research activities.
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Plant Biology, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Hands-on greenhouse experience in a research, agricultural, or commercial setting.
  • Exposure to plant breeding and crossing techniques (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and move materials related to greenhouse work.
  • Highly motivated and tenacious, self-starter who can work independently and proactively and is able to assimilate new information quickly in a fast-moving start-up environment
  • Ability to organize among competing priorities and to transition efficiently to new and emerging priorities without mishandling or failing to deliver
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including occasional field travel.
